It served as a defensive post against the Allied forces by the German Wehrmacht, which had occupied the territory since 1943. Even today, remains of bunkers, fortifications and shooting ranges can be found in the city of Marseille, along the Calanques and its white cliffs and on the Frioul Islands. For
